ELKHART -- Gordon Allen Hemple, 67, of Elkhart, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 18, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born Sept. 19, 1941, in Canton, N.J., to Joseph and Alice (Halter) Hemple.

A widower, Mr. Hemple is survived by his two daughters, Bonnie Stott of New Jersey and Flossie Hemple of Delaware; several grandchildren; four brothers, Dale, Gilbert, Willard and Harold Hemple, all of New Jersey; and his longtime companion, Paulette Tilley of Elkhart, and her children, Bill and Richard Huskey, and Crystal Fisher, all of Elkhart.

Mr. Hemple worked for Trophy Homes, Elkhart, for many years. He had worked for NASCAR and was an avid NASCAR fan; his favorite driver was Jimmie Johnson.

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is assisting with arrangements.
