ELKHART — Goldie A. Menges, 59, of Elkhart, passed away in her home at 5:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, after an extended illness.
She was born in LaGrange on May 4, 1954, to the late Henry "Bill" and Edith (Christner) Lyon.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Forrest II) Ludwick of Elkhart; sons Willliam "Will" Menges of Goshen and David Menges of Elkhart; her former spouse and father of the children, David T. (Rita) Menges of Goshen; and six grandchildren.
In accordance with Goldie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, with visitation starting at 4 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 22045 C.R. 18 in Elkhart.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart.
Goldie was a technical assistant for the Elkhart Community School System and was active with the in-school scouting program. She was a lifetime member of Girl Scouts of America and was a Cub Scout den leader.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Menges family in care of her daughter, Lisa, to assist the family during this difficult time, and to help Goldie's Girl Scout family to fund a memorial trip to Savannah, Ga., the birthplace of Girl Scouts.
