Gloria was beautiful, kind, generous and talented. She was a woman of the world who believed that everyone was God’s child. If you ever met Gloria, you would never forget her. In her early years, Gloria spent the winter months living close to her Keating cousins and summers by the lake in Westford, MA. After World War II, she traveled to London and worked at The Martin Company (now known as Lockheed Martin) and was stationed at their London office. On weekends, she and her roommate traveled throughout Great Britain and France and learned about antiques, history, and the culture of Europe in general. Those early experiences remained with her thus, she enjoyed and collected British and French antiques throughout her lifetime.
Gloria married her (late) husband, Peter Carney on April 11, 1970, where they had a beautiful ceremony in Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia. They enjoyed traveling the world together and her husband always said that Gloria was the most fascinating and stimulating woman he had ever met. She was a fantastic artist who enjoyed painting and later specialized in Monoprinting. Peter and Gloria both shared a love for animals and enjoyed having many dogs and cats to share their home with over the years. In her later years, she opened her historic home on Cape Cod as a Bed & Breakfast and served breakfast on her Wedgwood China and juice from her Waterford Crystal. People often loved her tales of art, travel, and the many famous personalities she met so much that they returned year after year.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her loving family, her Elkhart community, and by all the lives she touched with her generous heart.
