ELKHART -- Glenn W. Eby, 92, of Elkhart, died at 9:56 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 28, 2009) in Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born March 27, 1916, in Harrison Township, Elkhart County, to Walter and Emma J. (Pletcher) Eby. On Aug. 3, 1940, he married F. Helen Smith in Jimtown. She preceded him in death along with one son, Roger Eby; and three siblings, Earl Eby, Grace Holmes and Edna Risser.

Mr. Eby is survived by one daughter, Sharon Dull of Edwardsburg, Mich.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one half-brother, Loren J. (Phyllis) Eby of Elkhart; and one sister, Gladys Miller of Logansport.

Mr. Eby owned Eby Insurance Co. for more than 50 years and was a member of Fairview Grange, Elkhart Moose Lodge 599 and had been a member of Dunlap United Methodist Church since 1956. He enjoyed fishing and traveling.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., and one hour prior to Thursday's 11 a.m. funeral service at Dunlap United Methodist Church, 23674 U.S. 33 E., both in Elkhart. Burial and a graveside service will follow in Olive West Cemetery, Elkhart.
