Ms. Ginger Kay Phillips, 42, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at the home of a friend following a sudden illness on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 8:25 pm. She was born on November 1, 1978 in Elkhart and was the daughter of the late Franklin D. and Karen Kay (Ellis) Phillips.

Surviving are her siblings Frankie Phillips, Dreama (Mark Wortinger) Phillips and Beth Geiger, all of Elkhart; grandmother Etherial "Buzzy" Phillips of Elkhart; nephew Keith (Mallory) Powell of Jones, MI, nieces Destiny and Savannah Phillips of Elkhart and great niece and nephew Oaklee and Leeum Powell, as well as a host of extended family and good friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Ginger's remains have been cremated and services will take place after the Covid restrictions, when Ginger's multitude of friends and family can gather and celebrate her life without the burden social constraints. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

Ginger spent many years as a production worker in several area manufacturers, but her heart remained faithful to her family's stock car racing heritage originated by her Pawpaw Frank and her dad Frankie. She would tour the racing circuit for many years as the elusive #24, hitting such tracks as the M40, New Paris, Kalamazoo and the traveling Late Model series.

Outgoing, friendly and vivacious, Ginger never knew a stranger, and her warm personality won her many friends over the years. Although she never had children herself, she loved kids of all ages and often enjoyed communicating and playing with them on their level. She also enjoyed crocheting and travelling, and anywhere that had a beach and lots of water nearby would be a destination requirement for Ginger.

Memorial donations made in Ginger's memory may be given to the charity of one's choice.  Thank you so much for your interest in Ginger's life story!
