Obituary

ELKHART — Geraldine D. "Jerrie" Gorsuch, 92, of Elkhart, passed to her rest Thursday, Jan. 28, at Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation Valley View.

Geraldine was born Oct. 9, 1923, on a farm in Wakarusa, to William W. and Vera (Klinger) Guyer.

She married Paul E. Gorsuch Oct. 29, 1950, in her parents' Riverside Drive home. Paul died Nov. 18, 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Lindsey (Rich) Heinrich of La Jolla, Calif., granddaughter Brittney (Matthew) Montoya and a great- grandson, Josiah, also of California. Also surviving are caregivers Evelyn (Art) Smoot and Brittney (Cliff) Wade and her friends and helpers, Ruth (Don) Rockwell and Terry (Jessie) Smeltzer.

A sister, Willojean Rice, a half-sister, Mary and another half-sister who died at birth preceded her in death.

Geraldine graduated from Elkhart High School and Elkhart Business School. She formerly worked in the office at Adams & Westlake and owned and rented out properties in her neighborhood. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had lived in her house on Riverside Drive in Elkhart since she was 3 years old.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, at Billings Funeral Home, where friends may call beginning at 11 a.m. The Rev. Keith McFarren will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow in Rice Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to the Midwest Museum of American Art, First Presbyterian Church, United Cancer Services of Elkhart County or Heartland Hospice.
