Obituary

Ms. Geraldine Helen "Geri" Tierney, 83, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully at her home following an extended illness on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 5:52 pm. She was born on November 26, 1937 in South Bend and was the daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Klockowski) Krigelski. She is also preceded in death by her former husband John K. Tierney, Sr., with whom she had always remained good friends.

Surviving is her son, John K. Tierney, Jr. of Elkhart; as well as a host of extended family, good friends, and her faithful furry friends Maggie and Chance.

In accordance with her wishes, Geri's remains have been cremated and a Memorial Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elkhart on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 am, with visitation starting one hour prior. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart has been assisting John with arrangements.

Geri was a 1956 graduate of Elkhart High School and had worked as an inspector at DuraKool, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1998. She was an avid collector of paper dolls, and enjoyed spending time with her son, John, building miniature houses of all types. She also loved to be outdoors and would relish the chance to do a bit of yardwork or gardening, tending to her beautiful natural floral arrangements. Sweet, demure, and always cheerful, Geri will be best remembered for her friendly and smile and wave as she went about her daily errands with her son, John. She was also a devout catholic and attended St. Vincent's whenever she could.

Memorial donations made in Geri's memory may be given to the St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church.  Thank you so much for your interest in Geri's life story!
