Obituary
ELKHART — Gerald A. Kirts, 71, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 26, 1944, in Elkhart, to Melvin A. and Mary M. (Burton) Kirts.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Irons of Middlebury and Sarah (Mike) Castleman of Elkhart; one son, Matthew Kirts of Elkhart; one brother, Danny (Nancy) Kirts of Bristol; one sister, Patricia Harris of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia (Nelson) Kirts and three brothers, Herb, Tom and Jimmy Kirts.
He was employed as a tool and die maker at Conn-Selmer for more than 26 years prior to his retirement.
Gerald enjoyed spending time boat racing, golfing and was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart.
