ELKHART — Gerald L. "Jerry" Delaney, 60, of Elkhart, passed away at Elkhart Rehabilitation Center at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, after an apparent heart attack.
He was born May 31, 1951, in South Haven, Mich., to the late Dallas and Donna (Jones) Delaney. He married Karen L. Humberg in Dowagiac, Mich., in 1984. She survives at home.
Also surviving are daughters Rebecca L. Allbee of Mendon, Mich., and Dawn M. (John) Bowers of Cassopolis, Mich.; a son, Michael L. Delaney of St. Joseph, Mich.; a brother, Eric (Karen) Delaney of Dowagiac; and three grandchildren.
A brother, Mark Delaney, preceded Jerry in death.
In accordance with the family's wishes, Jerry has been cremated. No immediate services have been planned, but a memorial may take place at a later date. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.
Jerry was an over-the-road truck driver for P&P Transportation Co. of Constantine, Mich., for more than 10 years. He enjoyed driving his Corvette and was an avid sports fan.
Memorial donations may be made in Jerry's memory to his wife, Karen.
