Obituary

ELKHART — Georgie A. "Anna" Carpenter, 93, of Elkhart, passed away peacefully of natural causes at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Elkhart General Hospital.

Born in Elkhart County, Aug. 7, 1922, she was one of nine siblings raised by the late Ben and Clara J. (Judson) Juday.

Surviving are her daughters, Ranae (Terry) Hayden of Elkhart and Connie Carpenter of Fallbrook, Calif; sons Greg (Janet) Parish of Lebanon, Ohio, and Doug (Bobbie) Parish of White Pigeon, Mich.; stepsons Jerry (Judy) Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Terry (Diane) Carpenter of Yorba Linda, Calif.; sister Mary Koepple of Syracuse; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were spouses Evan Parish, whom she married in 1938, and Richard Carpenter, whom she married in 1967; her sister, Virginia Wheeler, and brothers Walter, Eugene, Clare, Lyle, Marion and Paul Juday.

Anna's life will be celebrated at Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart with a viewing from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 12, followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. Family member Larry Banghart will officiate. Cremation will then take place and burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol at a later date.

Anna was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan, and loved going out for lunch with her family.
