ODESSA, Texas — George Arthur Fitch, 81, of Odessa, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his residence in Odessa.
He was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Elkhart, to Kennett K. and Georgia Alberta (Gray) Fitch-Emmert.
Survivors include his wife, Marsha Miller-Fitch of Odessa; two sons, John (Jean) Fitch Sr. of Bristol and Kevin Fitch of Leola, Pa.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael G. Fitch Sr., and a brother, Frederick Emmert.
He was a 1950 graduate of Elkhart High School. George worked as a purchasing agent in the mobile home industry at various local manufacturers for several years prior to moving to Texas.
George enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing and playing on local bowling leagues. He served as his sons' Boy Scout leader for many years.
A gathering of family and friends and a celebration of his life will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Interment of his cremated remains will follow at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart.
