Gary Devon Markley, 67, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at his home. He was born on January 24, 1956, in Elkhart, to the late Raymond and Mary (Overhulser) Markley.

Gary is survived by his children, Ryan Markley and Tammy (Rich) Kazmierczak; numerous grandchildren; a few great-grandchildren; and a loving host of extended family, friends, and acquaintances.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Tom Markley and Nancy Stine.

In accordance with Gary's wishes, cremation has been chosen. Graveside services will occur on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 2 PM at Prairie Street Cemetery. Pastor Jeremy Sarber will officiate. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the VFW Post 88, 1519 W Bristol St., Elkhart, IN 46514, beginning at 4 PM. Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart has been assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary was a welder by trade. He spent over 30 years working for Holiday Rambler, over 10 years for Utilimaster, and over 7 years for Forest River's Cargo Division respectively. Later in life, Gary would become a portable welder and perform small engine repairs to keep himself busy while also delivering cars to various auctions around town.

In his spare time, Gary could be found boating, especially up in St. Ignace, MI, working around the house, or taking scenic drives around town. He enjoyed spending time at the local VFW and DAV, becoming a member at both locations where he made many friends over the years.

Gary, along with all the love and joy he shared, will be dearly missed.
