ELKHART — Gary W. Freshour, 61, of Elkhart, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Center for Hospice Care in Elkhart, following an extended illness.
He was born in Corbin, Ky., on April 29, 1953, to the late Lewis E. and Lillie M. (Rose) Freshour.
He later married Mary E. Jeffries in Elkhart on Sept. 6, 1997. She survives him at home.
Also surviving are his daughters, Katie, Danielle and Sarah; his sisters, Judy Allen of Mishawaka, Cathi Louviere-Wells of Gordon, Ga., and Karen Lawson of Celina, Tenn.; his brother, Raymond Freshour of Constantine, Mich.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Gary's two brothers, Danny and Robert Freshour, precede him in death.
Gary was an avid NASCAR and Chicago Blackhawks fan, and was a U.S. Army veteran during Vietnam.
Currently, no services have been scheduled, and Gary is to be cremated according to his wishes. Burial will take place at a later time, at the Veteran's Section of Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.
Arrangements have been placed under the care and direction of Billings Funeral Home of Elkhart.
