He was born July 17, 1947, in Dalton, Ga., to Milton E. and Frances L. (Crawford) Cobb. On July 1, 1993, in Elkhart, he married Patricia K. "Patty" Freel.
She survives, along with three sons, including Dustin M. Cobb and Gary A. Cobb Jr., both of Elkhart; two daughters, Celeste A. (Kirk) Weesner and Rita (Chad) Menzie, both of Elkhart; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Donald E. (Debbie) Cobb of Traverse, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Oliver Cobb.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday funeral service at Jamestown United Methodist Church. Pastor David Henry will officiate. Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery.
Mr. Cobb worked in shipping and receiving in the local RV industry for nearly 15 years until a disability required his early retirement in 1992. He was a member of Osceola American Legion 308, and was an avid outdoorsman who liked fishing, landscaping, woodworking and gardening. He also enjoyed music and had a diverse taste in what he liked to listen to, including country gospel, '50s doo-wop and country western. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In Mr. Cobb's later years, he enjoyed taking evening drives with Patty.
