Gabriel Antonio Machado Luna, 36, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away peacefully at Elkhart General Hospital on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 1:23 PM after a brief illness. Born on November 19, 1987, in Santa Elena, Usulután, El Salvador, Gabriel was the beloved son of Miguel Angel Machado of El Salvador and the late Armida Luna.

Gabriel's legacy lives on through his three cherished children: sons Gabriel Antonio Machado Turcio and Axcel Miguel Machado Turcio, and daughter Emely Melissa Machado Turcio, all of whom were his heart and soul. His love for them knew no bounds, and he dedicated his life to being the best father he could be. Gabriel is also survived by his devoted brother Pedro Alberto (Sylvia Gutierrez) Machado of Elkhart, Indiana, and his beloved grandmother Fidelina Luna of El Salvador. His loss is felt deeply by a wide circle of family, including numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends, all of whom will forever remember his warm presence and the love he shared with them.

Gabriel is reunited in heaven with his late brothers, Jose Maria Machado Luna and Benjamin Alexander Machado Luna, and his grandparents Ramon and Alba Machado Garcia, along with his grandfather Pedro Vasquez. Though his time on this earth was brief, his spirit will endure in the hearts of those who loved him.

A native of El Salvador, Gabriel moved to Elkhart, where he built a life for himself as a hardworking and dedicated employee at Lippert Components, where he had been a painter for the past five years. He took great pride in his craft, but his true passions lay in the time he spent outdoors. Gabriel found peace in the beauty of nature, whether fishing by the water or deer hunting in the quiet woods. These moments, much like the time he spent with his children, brought him closer to God's creation, filling his life with joy and serenity.

Those who knew Gabriel knew his heart was centered on his faith and his family. He was a loving father, a steadfast brother, and a dear friend, whose presence was a blessing to everyone in his life. His Christian faith guided him through life's challenges, and his love for his Savior was reflected in his kindness, humility, and generosity. He lived his life as a reflection of God's love, offering a helping hand and a listening ear to anyone in need. Gabriel's journey with God continues now as he rests in eternal peace, embraced by the love of his Heavenly Father.

A time of prayer and remembrance will begin on Thursday, September 19, 2024, with an all-day vigil at Iglesia Evangelica Cristo Te Llama at 25404 Modrell Avenue, Elkhart, from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. The vigil will continue on Friday, September 20, 2024, from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. At 1:00 PM on Friday, a service celebrating Gabriel's Christian faith and life will be held at the church, officiated by Pastor Miguel Angel Rodriguez, who will also preside over the vigils. Following the service, Gabriel will return to Billings Funeral Home for preparation before his final journey home to El Salvador, where he will be laid to rest in the Cementerio Santa Elena in Usulután, a place close to his heart and homeland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his children in care of his brother, Pedro A. Machado. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the prayers, support, and love shown to them during this difficult time.

Gabriel's life, though short in years, was rich in love, family, and faith. We find peace knowing that he is now in the arms of his Savior, where he is watching over his loved ones from heaven, until we meet again.
