Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, Ind. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Dale Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Kessington Cemetery, Union, Mich.

She was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Welch, W.Va., to Elige Hicks and Maggie Hicks. She married Donie J. Roberts Sr. on Dec. 29, 1969, in Grundy, Va.

He survives along with two sons, Donie J. Roberts Jr. of Elkhart and James N. "Nicky" Roberts of Cassopolis; three sisters, Nita Sims and Jean McBride, both of Elkhart, and Polly (Cliff) Bowlby of Bristol, Ind.; and two brothers, Tony (Dolly) Hicks of Radford, Va., and Amos (Rose) Hicks of Garden City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Roberts was a homemaker most of her life, but her love of computers helped her earn an associate's degree in computer technology from Ivy Tech in Elkhart. She was a member of Women of the Moose 599 in Elkhart. She loved country and western music, shopping and caring for her invalid son, Nicky. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
