Fred E. Swartz III, 82, of Elkhart passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Fred was born on December 24, 1938 in Elkhart to the late Fred E. Swartz II and Beatrice (Noffsinger) Swartz. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara Chandler.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Nanette (Jim) Putz of Elkhart; granddaughter, Rachel Bucher of South Bend; and sister, Sandra Swartz-Lane of Elkhart.

Fred honorably served his country in the US Army. He was a dispatcher with Conrail as well as a letter carrier with the Elkhart Postal Service. Fred was a member of the DAV 19 and VFW Post 88. He was fascinated with sports car. He was a mischievous and fun-loving man. Fred certainly made life interesting and he will be greatly missed.

There will be a private Celebration of Fred's Life at a later date. The family have chosen cremation. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514 is assisting the family.
