ELKHART -- Francisco Ortiz, 70, of Elkhart, died at 3:38 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010, at Elkhart General Hospital.

He was born June 4, 1940, to Francisco Ortiz and Maria Melendes in Aibonito, Puerto Rico.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer (Silvano) Panzo-Hernandez of Goshen; two grandchildren; two brothers, Idalecio (Maria Espara) Ortiz and Roberto (Persida Ortiz); and three sisters, Aida Luz Ortiz, Lucia Ortiz and Candida Ortiz.

Francisco formerly worked at a proof company and also worked as a cook at area restaurants.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service today, Nov. 23, 2010, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The Rev. Glenn Kohrman of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Frame Cemetery.
