EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Frances I. "Fran" Wilson, 73, passed away at her Edwardsburg home at 9:45 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Elkhart, Ind., to the late Ralph and Hazel (Robinson) Doolittle and later married Richard L. Wilson in June of 1955 in Elkhart. He died in 2007 after 52 years of marriage.
Surviving are her daughters, Cherie L. DeFreese and Connie L. (Larry R.) Kennedy; a son, Tim L. (Sandra) Wilson; a brother, Robert Doolittle; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Richard; daughters Joyce Drudge and Doreen Wilson; and son-in-law William DeFreese.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, April 3, 2012, and again Wednesday, April 4, 2012, one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral, all scheduled to take place at Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart. Fr. Joseph McCormick of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Edwardsburg will officiate with burial to follow in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery in Elkhart.
Fran was a homemaker, but was also an Avon representative for nearly 40 years. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church and Elkhart Women of the Moose Chapter 73.
