Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her son, Jere Snyder, officiating. Burial and a graveside service will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery, Elkhart.
She was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Lincoln, Neb., to William R. and Mamie E. (Simpson) Barnett. She married Lester I. Snyder in September 1935 in Seward, Neb.; he died in September 1941. She married William C. Thompson on Oct. 8, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo.; he died in May 1995.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by three sons, James (Karen) Snyder of Waverly, Neb., Jere (Patricia) Snyder of Raleigh, N.C., and Richard (Janet) Thompson of Elkhart; one daughter, Beverly (Earl) Bowe of Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Barbara Wingerter of Murphysboro, Ill.; and one stepson, Clarence (Lorene) Thompson of Antlers, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Snyder; a great-great-grandson, Shawn Snider; two brothers, Harold and Clair Barnett; and one sister, Anna Christner.
Mrs. Thompson was a secretary at the Salvation Army in Elkhart for 15 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Salvation Army, Home League with the Salvation Army and the Grange in Waverly. She enjoyed crafts, reading and crocheting.
