"Fran" Trout

ELKHART – Frances W. "Fran" Trout, 90, of Elkhart, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Center for Hospice, Elkhart Campus, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 30, 1927 in Raymond, South Dakota to the late Walter and Catherine (Meier) Willie. On September 25, 1948, in Fort Dodge, IA, she married Col. Richard G. Trout. He passed away on April 21, 2013 after nearly 65 wonderful years of marriage. Fran is survived by her son, Craig Trout; daughter Lynn (Fred) Lands; granddaughter, Heather (Greg) Magnusen; grandsons, Steven (Katlyn) Trout and Sean Trout; great grandchildren, Evan and Audrey Magnusen and a sister Lois Filipek. In addition to her parents and husband, four brothers, Bud, Ben, Dennis and Eldon Willie preceded her in death.
Fran was a loving wife, mother and homemaker with the career of being an Air Force Colonel's wife. She enjoyed golfing and was excellent at it! Fran was an avid golfer and loved to the watch all kinds of sports, especially Little League Baseball. She was a member of the USAF Officers' Wife's Club and belonged to the ladies golf group at the Elks. Fran would winter in FL.
At Fran's request, a private mass is to be held and she will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, next to her beloved husband Colonel Richard G. Trout at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to Paralyzed Veterans of America, PVA: Donation Processing Center, PO Box 758532, Topeka, KS 66675-8532. Fran's arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Elkhart.
