MIDDLEBURY — Frances M. Ambrosen, 77, of Middlebury, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 10, 2012, at Courtyard Healthcare Center in Goshen.
She was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Springfield, Ohio, to the late Charles and Alice (Powell) Gallagher. A son, Glenn Onion, also preceded her in death. On Sept. 4, 1985, she married Richard J. Ambrosen in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He survives, as well as a son, David Onion of Fort Wayne; daughter Kristie Campbell of Las Vegas; stepsons John (Kristy) Ambrosen of Jones, Mich., Richard Ambrosen of Goshen and Leif Ambrosen of Vandalia; and stepdaughters Tona Ambrosen of Union, Mich., and Betsy (Phil) Fox of Mishawaka. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren as well as five brothers and sisters and a special aunt, Dottie Berry.
Frances retired from the Viking Division of Coachman Industries. She was a graduate of Springfield (Ohio) High School and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Middlebury. Frances was an avid golfer, loved to cook and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Rev. Dennis Smith of Messiah Lutheran Church of Constantine, Mich., will officiate. Burial will follow in Rice Cemetery.
