BRISTOL — Florence W. (Haas) Wade, 92, of Bristol, went home to heaven Friday, Dec. 4, at Eastlake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Tipp City, Ohio, on Sept. 17, 1923, the daughter of Fred W. and Lodene (McBride) Haas.
She married Walter L. Wade on July 12, 1960, in Elkhart. He passed away Oct. 16, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Howard, Roger and Fred Haas.
Surviving are a son, Roger L. (Sharon) Hennessy of Bristol; stepdaughter Cheryle J. Thompson of Mishawaka; three grandsons, Schawn (Melissa) Hennessy of Tipp City and Michael (Cindi) Hennessy and Bryan (Katy) Hennessy, both of New Hampshire; one stepgranddaughter Sandra (Michael) Ehlers of Elkhart; sister Katie (George) Stum of Tipp City; eight great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-stepgrandchildren.
Florence retired from Excel Industries in Elkhart after 30 years of service. She was a devout Christian and a prayer warrior, and was a member of Tri-Lakes Community Church in Bristol. Florence loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
She made personalized baby blankets for her family and friends. She enjoyed journaling and taking pictures. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling in different leagues.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration service honoring her life will be at a later date. She will be buried next to her husband, Walter, in Oakridge Cemetery in Bristol.
In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests memorials be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 1608 E. Day Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
