Fern Louise "Lucy" Bartlett, 88, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 19, 2017 at her home, in the presence of her loving family. Lucy was born on March 15, 1929 in Straughn, Indiana, the daughter of Andrew and Alta Mae (Davis) George. She married William G. Bartlett on Dec. 30, 1951 in Straughn, William passed March 22, 2003. Surviving are sons, Barry J. (Bunny) Bartlett of South Bend, Daryl K. Bartlett of Elkhart, daughters, Denise A. (Ron) O'Bryant of Warsaw, Brenda A. (John) Emerson and Mrya K. (Doug) Cors, both of Elkhart; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren survive as well. In addition to her parents and husband, a sister Merille Wildman and brothers Leon and Leroy "Peewee" George preceded her in death. Louise retired from Adams Remco, Inc. after 53 years of service. She worked in bookkeeping and accounting, but really did just about all jobs there. After retirement, she worked as an assistant for Deb Hogan CPA. She was a volunteer and known as "Grandma Lucy" to the children at Jimtown Elementary School for 14 years. Lucy was a member of First Church of God Elkhart, Delta Theta Chi Sorority and the Altrusa Club. A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sat. April 1, 2017 with visitation 1 hour prior at Adamsville Road Church of God. In honoring her wishes, cremation was chosen. She will be laid to rest with her husband at the Prairie Street Veterans Tower. Arrangements are under the care of Billings Funeral Home, Elkhart.
