ELKHART -- Fae E. Usery, 89, of Tipton Street, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15, 2006) at home.

She was born March 19, 1917, in Bremen to Dorsey and Celesta (Hodges) Whiteman. She married Haven Trigg on May 24, 1936, in Elkhart. He died May 21, 1974. She married John Usery on Dec. 12, 1980, in Elkhart. He died June 8, 1987.

She is survived by four daughters, Maxine Mazar of South Bend, Janet (Jack) Shanholt of Bristol, and Irene (Richard) White and Carol (Roger) Maier, both of Elkhart; two sons, Roger (Phyllis) Trigg of Wilmington, N.C., and Steven Trigg of South Bend; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Robert, Julian, Everett, Earnest and Merle Whiteman; and three sisters, Alice Shumaker, Elizabeth Ritenour and Almeada Sherwood.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today and for one hour before the 11 a.m. Saturday funeral service at Life Tabernacle Church, 1135 Middlebury St., Elkhart. The Rev. Mark Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Usery was a 1935 Wakarusa High School graduate. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for Judd Drug Store in Elkhart.

She was a member of Life Tabernacle Church, where she helped with the newsletter, and was an American Red Cross volunteer. She enjoyed music and cooking.
