ELKHART — Evelyn F. "Lynne" Rabbitt, 83, of Elkhart, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 18, 2013, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Valley View.
She was born March 5, 1929, in Allen, Mich., to the late Bert and Doris (Benedict) Daglow.
She was adopted and raised by the late Walter and Wilma (Hastings) Millar.
She married Duane A. "Dude" Rabbitt on Sept. 13, 1947, in Battle Creek, Mich. He died Dec. 31, 2008.
Surviving Evelyn are two daughters, Kathryn Branch of Griffith and Beverly Voth of Corbin, Ky.; three sons, James (Vicki) Rabbitt of Allendale, Mich., Thomas (Cindy) Rabbitt of Goshen and Joseph Rabbitt of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A brother, Kenny Millar preceded her in death.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a graduate of Battle Creek High School and founded Vic Vans, a van conversion company. She was a talented seamstress, artist and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, canning, antiques and gardening.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Friends may also call for one hour prior to the 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, service to celebrate her life at the funeral home. Barb Nelson, a friend of the family, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery.
