ELKHART — Evelyn Lucille Fletcher, 93, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
She was born May 26, 1922, in Peru, to the late Edgar and Sarah LaVirgia (Dunn) Miller.
Surviving are a daughter, Heloise (Mounir) Almasri; twin sons, Reginald and Ronald Fletcher, and sons William F. Fletcher and Thomas K. (Patricia) Fletcher; stepdaughter Wanetta J. McFall; stepson LaMarr (Donnabelle) Fletcher, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and her sister Mary A. Weir survive as well.
In addition to her parents, two stepsons, Charles and LaVon Fletcher; stepdaughter Patricia Pixley; and brother Edgar A. Miller preceded her in death.
Evelyn was a 1940 graduate of Fulton High School. She worked in food service at Elkhart Community School and at the former YM/YWCA and Elkhart General Hospital, from which she retired. She enjoyed watching sports, being outdoors, music, working with her flowers and gardening. She enjoyed cooking, especially for family gatherings. She loved raising her children and was a devoted mother.
Services celebrating Evelyn's life will begin at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where friends may visit one hour prior. Pastor Zachary Snyder will officiate.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
