IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn "Tina"
Cappelletti
August 7, 1939 – November 22, 2023
Evelyn "Tina" Cappelletti, 84, of Elkhart passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born in McVeigh, Kentucky on August 7, 1939 to the late James and Zella (Adams) Williamson.
Tina is also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Francis Cappelletti; brothers, Bobby Williamson, Denny Williamson, and Jay Williamson; and sisters, Louise Hutcherson and Rhonda Smith. She is survived by her children, Dominic (Tami) Cappelletti, Francis (Michelle Fahlsing) Cappelletti Jr., and Marietta Cappelletti; grandchildren, Sophia Cappelletti, Zac Fahlsing Cappelletti, Lucy Cappelletti-Foster, and Joey Cappelletti-Foster; her brother, Clyde (Betsy) James of Canada, KY, the East Coast Cappelletti's; the Michiana Cousins: the Anderson's, the Danis's and the Kilgren's, and the Kentucky and West Virginia Williamson, James, and Smith families.
In 1962, Tina married the love of her life, Francis Cappelletti. She was a devoted geriatric nurse, caring for countless people during her 25 year career. However, it is safe to say that Tina's most important roles were as a wife, as a mother, and as a grandmother. Her family was her world and she always put her children first. To say she made growing up fun is an understatement. Tina was the best room Mom, a devoted Boy Scout troop volunteer (for both sons), and the brave and adventurous neighborhood mom who was known to take all of the kids to the Dunes in her 9-passenger station wagon. The soggy peanut butter and jelly sandwiches she packed in the cooler were a solid 4-Michelan Star rating and a real treat for young, impressionable swimmers! Tina was also famous for her giant Friday night football pre-game pizzas and all the kids looked forward to the end of every fall week. Every Christmas Eve, Tina invited friends and family to her home for the most wonderful baked mostaccioli, notable marinated salad, delicious sandwiches, amazing fondue, plus an endless spread of Christmas desserts.
Tina was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Elkhart. She enjoyed visiting with neighbors on her front porch, tending to her garden and reading. Tina loved kids and was warmly referred to as "Mrs. C" by many who share countless, precious memories of Tina. She will be missed by many, but especially her children and grandchildren.
In accordance to her wishes, Tina will be cremated at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart. A graveside service will take place on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Elkhart. Father Logan Parrish of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church will officiate the graveside service.
