ELKHART — Evelyn M. Allisbaugh, 86, residing in Elkhart and formerly of South Bend, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 23, 2011, at Greenleaf Living Center.
She was born on July 23, 1925, in Bridgman, Mich., to the late Lewis and Zepha Byer. Evelyn married Robert L. Allisbaugh on March 20, 1964, in South Bend; he died on July 16, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Pat (Steve) Gard of Elkhart; son, Lou Hansell of Elkhart; and stepchildren, Rick (Cathy) Allisbaugh, Deborah Minick and Robert Allisbaugh Jr., all of Fort Wayne. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive as well. Preceding her in death are three brothers and a sister.
Evelyn worked at the Wilts Grocery Stores on Lincolnway in Mishawaka and Ironwood and Western Avenue in South Bend for 40 years. She was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed reading, playing cards, games, and spending time with her family and friends.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation will take place, with private family services to be held at a future time.
