ELKHART — Eva Janet Harmon, 85, of 225 Homewood Ave., died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 28, 2010) at her home.
She was born June 14, 1925, in Peru to Clarence and Bernice (Young) Hoffman. She married Eugene Harmon on March 25, 1949, in Elkhart.
He survives along with two sons, Mark E. Harmon of Elkhart and Michael S. (Rhonda) Harmon of Cassopolis, Mich.; one daughter, Cynthia (Carl) Thurston of Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Jana (Jerry) Workman of Goshen; one brother, Leo (Verlane) Hoffman of Edwardsburg, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, DeVon Hoffman.
Mrs. Harmon was a line operator at the former Miles Laboratories of Elkhart for nearly 30 years, retiring in 1987.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. A procession will then leave the funeral home for Rice Cemetery, where a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Pastor David Hudson, chaplain at Elkhart General Hospital, will officiate .
Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
