Jan. 7, 1943 - Dec. 8, 2010

ELKHART -- Eugene M. "Gene" Pletcher, 67, of Elkhart, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1943, in Osceola, to Melvin E. and Elizabeth P. (Meredith) Pletcher. On May 21, 1976, he married Marian F. (Willard) Pletcher in White Springs, Fla. She survives.

Sons Royce (Christina) Pletcher and Roger (Rhonda) Pletcher and sister Shirley Bradburn, all of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Pletcher; sisters Eula Dewitt, Betty Mitchell and Eloise Goldy; and grandson Michael Pletcher.

Gene was employed as a truck driver with IMC and J B Hunt. He was in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 308, Osceola. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and watching the Colts and Cubs.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, by Veterans Funeral Care at Billings, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Mr. Al Barnhart will officiate. The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will render military honors.
