ELKHART — Eugene "Gene" Chaney, 69, residing in Elkhart, passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 7, 2011, after a brief illness at Elkhart General Hospital.
Gene was born Jan. 9, 1942, in Haines City, Fla., to the late Eugene Gennings and Dorcus (Moore) Chaney. He married Pamela K. Wilke on Aug. 3, 1972, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his wife, Pam K. Chaney of Elkhart; sons Mike and Scott Chaney of Texas; and daughters Diane Lynn (Jeff) Anderson of Texas and Diana (Jeff) Fusaro of Elkhart. Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
A brother, John Chaney, preceded him in death.
Eugene worked as a bricklayer out of International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers in South Bend for 50 years. He loved riding his Harley and woodworking, and was a member of ABATE.
Join with his family and friends as we gather to remember and celebrate the life of Gene Chaney on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. At his request, cremation has taken place.
