Obituary




WHITE PIGEON, Mich. -- Ethel Trigg, 93, of Cecilia Street, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday (Oct. 14, 2008) in Heartland Healthcare Facility, Three Rivers.


She was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Royalton, Ky., to Are and Margaret (Allen) Arnett. On Dec. 31, 1955, she married Robert I. Trigg in Middlebury, Ind.


He survives along with two daughters, Dorothy Gibson and Mary Mast, both of Elkhart, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by one daughter, Ida Ellsworth; two sons, Donald and John Oliver; three sisters, Evie and Pearl Arnett and Polly Risner; and five brothers, Jim, Ellis, Galen, Bill and Bernie Arnett.


Mrs. Trigg worked more than 30 years at Hoosier Cleaners, a former Elkhart dry-cleaning business, before becoming a homemaker. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, canning much of what she grew and sharing it with family and friends.


She enjoyed sewing, quilting and traveling. At one time she and her husband lived in Georgia and Florida. Mrs. Trigg was best known for her homemade apple dumplings and peach cobbler. She could still dance the Charleston and Jitterbug.


Friends may call one hour prior to today's 11 a.m. funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart. Pastor Dale Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Prairie Street Cemetery.
