ELKHART — Esther J. (Witt) Streur, loving wife, mother, grandma, sister and friend, passed Tuesday morning, July 2, 2013, at Riverside Village. She was 85.
On Tuesday Esther was united again with her husband Marvin for their 64th anniversary. She was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Mishawaka to the late Leo T. and Fannie (Steckette) Adams.
In addition to her parents, husbands Marvin Witt and Harold Streur, son David J. Witt, daughter Rachel Joann Witt, and stepson Timothy Streur preceded her in death.
Surviving are daughters Marcia Schooley of Elkhart, Donna Banks of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Mary (Terry) Burleson of Harrison, Ark.; son Ronald Gillison of Elkhart; daughter-in-law Pat Witt of Elkhart; stepdaughter Holly (Les) Sneller of Zeeland, Mich.; stepsons Harvey (Carol) Streur and Joseph Streur, both of Holland, Mich.; 23 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Donna Flora of Elkhart and Marlene Hart of Waco, Texas.
She will be greatly missed by her faithful dog friends, Emmy and Demi.
Esther was a homemaker. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Holland VFW Post 2144 Ladies Auxiliary. Esther was a great cook and enjoyed playing cards, collecting porcelain dolls and spending time with her family.
Funeral services celebrating her life will start at noon Saturday, July 6, at Northside Baptist Church, 53198 C.R. 9, Elkhart, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Burial will be at a later date in Zion Cemetery, Bristol.
The family requests memorials be given to the church in Esther's memory.
