Ms. Esther E. Shaykin, 73, passed away peacefully at Golden Living Center in Elkhart following an extended illness on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 6:30 pm. She was born in Bloomington, IL on April 25, 1947 to the late Henry and Dora (Cook) Smith.

She is survived by her sisters Dorothy J. Rose of Cassopolis, MI and Marlene L. Hawkins of Ocala, FL. Preceding her in death are brothers Colan J. and Willis D. Smith and sisters Lucille M. Flickinger, Barbara J. Jones and Carolyn D. Smith.

In accordance with Esther's wishes, no immediate services are taking place and cremation has been chosen for disposition. Billings Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Elkhart have been assisting the family. Burial will follow cremation at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart.

Esther was a dear and loving sister in the truest sense of the word, and enjoyed times spent with her family. While she was generally a private person, if Esther considered you a friend, she showered you with love and devotion. She was also very devout Christian lady and enjoyed watching Christian programs and studying her bible. She was a very spiritual as well as giving soul, and she was always thankful for God's daily blessings. If life was a path, Esther always chose taking the high road. She was also quite an extensive reader as well.

Memorial donations made in Esther's memory may be given to the charity of one's choice.
