She was born July 18, 1918, in Elkhart to Otto and Esther (Ulrich) Clement. She married Thurman Collins on Dec. 24, 1963, in Elkhart. He passed away on Feb. 27, 1972, in Elkhart.
Mrs. Collins is survived by one sister, Lena V. Papa of Elkhart; one niece, Sherry (John) Weaver of Elkhart; one nephew, Randy Kelly of Dickerson, Texas; three great-nieces, Theresa (Kurt) Hochstetler of Millersburg, and Jennifer (Chris) Higgins and Kristen (Rich) Egnor both of Elkhart; and great-great-nieces and nephews, Cody, Cassidy, Jacob, Lukas, Sarah and Sophia.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Hazel Kelly.
Friends may call for one hour prior to the 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, service to celebrate her life at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. John Weaver will officiate, with a private burial on Thursday in Rice Cemetery.
Mrs. Collins retired after 44 years as a presser at the F.W. Means Co. in South Bend, Ind. She attended the former Albright United Methodist Church in Elkhart and was a graduate of Elkhart High School. Esther enjoyed gardening and cooking and was a member of the Woodman's Circle.
