Ersell Jean (Mellott) Eby, 77, of Elkhart, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at her home. She was born August 11, 1945, in Elkhart, to the late Edward and Phyllis (Taylor) Huster.

Ersell is survived by her children, Timothy "Tim" Eby and Cynthia "Cindy" Eby; grandchildren, Braxton and Caitlyn Eby; great grandchild, Winston Eby; siblings, Eddie Huster, Mary Lou Corpe, Gaye Ferguson, Jennie Hawk, and Rebecca Rema. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Merlyn Eby; parents; and sister, Sally Neal.

A visitation for Ersell will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. in Elkhart with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with an hour of visitation prior at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S Main St, Elkhart, IN 46516. Father Benjamin Landrigan will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Vincent's Cemetery in Elkhart. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.

Ersell worked as a supervisor at CTS for over 40 years, taking her job seriously. She was a natural caretaker, tending to her siblings as a surrogate mother when young, and later, caring for her husband, who battled MS.

Ersell loved camping, traveling, and swimming. She enjoyed poker, forming her own poker club. She was passionate about family, particularly her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind heart, independence, and perseverance. When life gave her lemons, she always turned them into lemonade.
