Obituary

Ernesto Patino-Valdez, 59, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

Ernesto was born in Mexico City, MX on March 26, 1965 to Juan Patino Briseno and Maria Elana Valdez Franco. He married Mari Nolte on March 10, 2013 in Elkhart.

Ernesto is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Maria.

Ernesto is survived by his wife Mari Nolte of Elkhart; stepchildren, Raekwon Nolte, Jalen Larkin; grandchild, Cassius Nolte; siblings, Juan, Ignacio, Antonio, Armando, Alicia, Guadalupe, Teresa, Paz and Rosa; and many nieces and nephews.

Ernesto was a group leader with Alcoholics Anonymous for many years. He was very influential especially with the Spanish speaking community. He hosted many events with his AA group.

He attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elkhart.

Ernesto worked at Thor Manufacturing and recently at Keystone R.V. on the line doing painting and prep work.

In his spare time, Ernesto enjoyed listening to classic rock n roll and watching soccer especially futbol (soccer).

Ernesto had a great sense of humor although at times he could be ornery.

A Visitation with a Rosary will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2024 at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.

He will buried in Mexico City, MX at a later date.

Ernesto Patiño-Valdez, de 59 años, de Elkhart, falleció inesperadamente el sábado 4 de enero de 2025. Ernesto nació en la Ciudad de México, MX el 26 de marzo de 1965, hijo de Juan Patiño Briseño y María Elana Valdez Franco. Se casó con Mari Nolte el 10 de marzo del 2013 en Elkhart. A Ernesto le preceden en la muerte sus padres Juan y María, su hermana Guadalupe y sus hermanos Juan, Ignacio y Antonio. A Ernesto le sobreviven su esposa Mari Nolte de Elkhart; hermanos, Armando, Alicia, Teresa, Paz y Rosa; y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas. Ernesto fue líder de grupo de Alcohólicos Anónimos durante muchos años. Fue muy influyente, especialmente con la comunidad de habla hispana. Organizaba eventos con su grupo de A.A. Asistió a la iglesia católica de San Vicente de Paúl en Elkhart. Ernesto trabajó en Thor Manufacturing y recientemente en Keystone R.V. en la línea haciendo trabajos de pintura y preparación. En su tiempo libre, a Ernesto le gustaba escuchar rock and roll clásico, viendo fútbol,  y celebraba reuniones con sus amigos y familiares. Ernesto tenía un gran sentido del humor, aunque a veces podía ser malhumorado. Se llevará a cabo un velorio con un rosario de 10:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. el sábado 18 de enero de 2024 en Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.
