He was born Dec. 23, 1919, in Indianapolis to Ernest L. and Maude (Crouse) LaMar. He married Nellie M. Swift on Dec. 24, 1941. She died Feb. 7, 2007, in Elkhart.
Mr. LaMar is survived by one daughter, Lisa (Thomas) Adams of Elkhart; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Raymond) Smith of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Eli (Kelly) Adams of Elkhart; and three great-grandchildren, Justice and Nathan Smith, and Emma Grace Adams.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeff LaMar, and two brothers, Victor and John LaMar.
There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. LaMar retired from Link Belt in Indianapolis, where he was a sign painter/machinist for 35 years. He was a member of Bridgeport Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis, where he served as both master and worthy patron. He was a graduate of Indianapolis Washington High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 341st Engineer Battalion.
