Eric James Mishler, 73, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Eric was born in Elkhart, IN on May 26, 1951 to Robert and Betty Lou (Johnson) Mishler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Betty Lou Mishler; brother Bill Mishler; sister-in-law, Fran Mishler; and niece, Laura Mishler.

Eric is survived by his cousins, Kent (Sue) Sager, Jeffrey (Gail) Sager, Jim (Jennifer) Sager, Teri Thompson and Tim (Lois) Thompson; niece, Amanda (Darren) America and Jim Bollero, his best friend as well as the many other family and friends that will miss him.

Eric graduated from Elkhart High School, class of 1969. He earned his undergraduate degree with honors from Indiana University in Bloomington and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He later earned his Master's Degree in Business from IUSB.

Eric's biggest passions were music and investment financing. His very first band was "Bit O' Soul". Later, he played in a very popular local band called Phase. After college, he toured the west with a band he put together with friends from IU.

His other passion was co-editing the financial newsletter, "Outstanding Investor Digest", which had him moving to New York City. He always said he was like a kid in a candy store because he would cover financial meetings during the day and every night he would go and listen to the world's greatest jazz artists.

In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his bike, playing guitar, listening to music and participating in foreign affairs discussion groups at Notre Dame.

Eric was a kind-hearted, talented and giving person. He was always ready to pitch in and help whenever and wherever it was needed. We will miss him terribly.

There will be a Celebration of Eric's Life Gathering on Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.
