ELKHART — Emma "Joan" Jones, 69, of Elkhart, passed away Monday morning, May 6, 2013, at Kindred Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, after an extended struggle with brain cancer.
She was born July 21, 1943, in Goshen to the late Amos M. Yoder and Katie J. (Mishler) Maust.
On June 29, 1963, she married the love of her life, Robert D. Jones, in Nappanee.
In addition to her husband, other survivors include two sisters, Judy (Terry) Darr of Shipshewana and Helen Howard of Goshen; three brothers, Gary Yoder of Goshen, Kerry (Peggy) Yoder of Edwardsburg, Mich., and Tim (Darlyn) Maust of Osceola; and nieces and nephews.
Joan was a longtime member of New Life Baptist Church. She was employed for more than 40 years at CTS prior to her retirement in 1999.
She and her husband spent many years vacationing at their home in Sarasota, Fla., and she especially enjoyed attending garage sales, collecting and reading books.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, May 10, 2013, at Billings Funeral Home. Pastor Bob Wood of New Life Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in South Union Cemetery in Nappanee.
