ELKHART -- Emaline Geerts, 89, of Elkhart, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday (Jan. 23, 2009) in Valley View Health Care Center.

She was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Middlebury to Tony V. and Mary Ann (Reafsnyder) Lehman. On Oct. 17, 1938, she married Lloyd R. Geerts in LaPorte. He died Oct. 13, 1989, in Elkhart.

Mrs. Geerts is survived by two sons, Larry (Bonnie) Geerts and James L. Geerts, both of Elkhart; one daughter, Patricia (Chuck) Stewart of Lufkin, Texas; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Carson "Bim" (Mary Ann) Lehman of Elkhart.

She was preceded in death by one son, Alan W. Geerts; one daughter, Charlene Vesterby; three sisters, Bertha and Helen Rogers and Mary Hoover; and four brothers, John, Ora, Richard and Harold Lehman.

Mrs. Geerts was a homemaker and member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 73. She enjoyed playing bingo.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Elkhart Moose Lodge 599, 1500 C.R. 6 W., Elkhart. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Women of the Moose Chapter 73 officiating. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date.
