ELKHART -- Elvira Jimenez, 79, died Friday (July 10, 2009) at 7:23 p.m. at Elkhart General Hospital.
She was born March 20, 1930, in Aguascalientes, Mexico, to Ramon Jimenez Avila and Maria Felicitas Santillan. She married Jose Rangel in 1953. He died in 1959.
She is survived by three sons, Frank (Hilda) Rangel of Downey, Calif., Hector Rangel of Mexico and Jose Rangel of Elkhart; one daughter, Lila E. (Sergio Ruvalcara) Gonzalez of Elkhart; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Rosa, Abrahana and Elena Jimenez; and two brothers, Benjamin and Gregorio Jimenez.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Consuelo Jimenez; and one brother, Francisco Jimenez.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is handling arrangements. Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Kevin Bauman of St. Vincent's, and graveside services and burial will follow at Little Pine Cemetery in Goshen.
Mrs. Jimenez was a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
