Obituary
ELKHART — Elton J. Johnson Jr., 44, of Elkhart, passed away in his home at 4:16 p.m. Aug. 31, following an extended illness.
He was born in Detroit on July 14, 1971, to Elton Johnson Sr. and Mattie (Manning) Johnson Spearmon. Both survive him.
Also surviving are his children, Cameron Weekly, Jasmine Anderson, Sierra Yates and Drashon Johnson; sisters Michelle Kellum, Mildred Johnson, Carolyn Burgess and Jennifer Spearmon; stepsister LaRae Johnson; brother Michael Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Elkhart. In accordance with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Elton worked as a production worker in the RV industry for many years. He loved to work on cars and enjoyed being able to help others, which earned him the title as everyone's "Uncle Elton."
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to his mother, Mattie Spearmon, c/o Billings Funeral Home.
