Elsie Lou Forgey, 85, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Center for Hospice Care, Esther House of Elkhart.
Elsie was born on September 17, 1937 in LaGrange, IN to the late, Homer and Joy Belle (McClellan) Wagner. Elsie is married to Robert Forgey on April 8, 1960 in Elkhart.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Forgey in 2006.
Elsie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob Forgey of Elkhart; sons, Gary (Amy) Forgey of Orlando, FL and Randy (Tania) Forgey of Elkhart; brother, Clarence Wagner of Elkhart; grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Logan, Lauren, Brian, Ashley and Brandon and great grandchildren, Alaina, Addison, Cole, Reed, Chrissy, Katie, Lilly, Peyton, Camden, Landon, Jaxon and Kelly Sue and her church family.
Elsie graduated from Elkhart High School in 1955. She was a punch press operator at Standard Tool and Die. Later in life, Elsie worked at various fast-food restaurants in the area. She was affectionately known as "the bee" at Old Country Buffet.
Elsie is a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Elkhart. She was involved with "Young at Heart" at the church.
Elsie was a huge Bingo player and volunteer. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to the parks with her husband, Bob. Also, Elsie would travel with her Minnow Travel friends.
Elsie was the matriarch of the family and especially loved her grandchildren, even taking them to church services with her.
A Funeral Service for Elsie will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 28465 C.R. 4, Elkhart, IN 46514 with Pastor Sarah Miller officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the start of service from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Entombment and committal prayers will follow the funeral at Rice Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, IN 46514.
