ELKHART — Ellen M. Funk, 100, of Elkhart, died peacefully Friday afternoon, April 17, at Hubbard Hill Estates.
She was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Elkhart, to Henry and Laura (Welscott) Grieb.
She married Marvin W. Funk on Feb. 11, 1933. He died Dec. 10, 2002.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Walter Funk in 2013; three brothers; four sisters; and a granddaughter, Ginger Kozelka.
Surviving are her children, Roberta (David) Honeywell of Leechburg, Pa., and William Funk and Julia (Bill Reader) Croy, both of Elkhart; brother Harold (Margaret) Grieb of Elkhart; and daughter-in-law Terri Funk of Elkhart. Her extended family consists of 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Ellen lived in Elkhart, where she raised her family, her entire life. She later went to work at Adams and Westlake until her retirement. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church for many years. Ellen enjoyed growing flowers, gardening and antiquing.
A service celebrating her long life will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 23, at Northside Baptist Church, 53198 C.R. 9, Elkhart, preceded by an hour of visitation and viewing. Pastor Carl Henry will officiate. Burial and graveside services will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ellen may be made to the Northside Baptist Church.
