ELKHART — Elizabeth R. "Betty" Sanders, 82, of Elkhart, formerly of Osceola, passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012, in her residence.
She was born July 18, 1930, in La Place, Ill. to Gentry and Agnes (Wooley) Pedigo.
On July 13, 1957, she married the late Alton Ray Sanders.
Survivors include two sons, Richard O. (Pamela) Mitschelen of Guthrie, Okla. and David A. (Janet) Mitschelen of Elkhart; two stepsons, William (Valerie) Sanders of Emory, Texas, and David Sanders; stepdaughter Shirley (Carl) Wahmhoff of Gobles, Mich.; two sisters, Dorothy Uselton of Lavonia, Ga., and Carolyn Neira of Atlanta; two brothers, Roger Pedigo of Foley, Ala., and Gerald (Josie) Pedigo of Rosiclare, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Mitschelen, and four brothers, Ron, Kenneth, Phillip and Robert Pedigo.
Betty was employed at Continental Can Company from the mid-1950s to mid-1960s. She later worked as the manager of First Church of God food pantry, Mishawaka, for several years.
She was a member of Royal Red Hats, Lavonia. Betty loved spending time crocheting and giving away her Betty Rose Handmade Gifts. She enjoyed collecting lighthouses, ships and dolls.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Christiano International Ministry, 422 West High St., Elkhart. Roger May will officiate.
Family and friends are invited to attend a carry-in luncheon immediately following the services.
Cremation has taken place at Altera Cremation Services.
Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., has been entrusted with arrangements.
