ELKHART -- Elizabeth Jane Flanders, 89, of Greenleaf Living Center, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday (May 27, 2006) at her home.

She was born on June 24, 1916, to Samuel D. and Isabel (Herrick) Oliver in Elkhart. She married Richard E. Flanders on May 29, 1936, in Kalamazoo, Mich. He died on Oct. 2, 1994.

She is survived by a daughter, Margery Flanders of Elkhart, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, R. George Flanders; two sisters, June Kroeder and Charlotte Forney; a brother, Robert Oliver; and a granddaughter, Melissa Nickel.

Cremation will take place and private memorial services will be at a later date. Burial will be at First Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden.

Mrs. Flanders was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of Elcona Country Club and Elks Lodge #425. She enjoyed golf and playing bridge. She attended Tennessee Weslyen College and belonged to Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority.
