ELKHART — Elfriede Theresia Andabaka, 81, of Elkhart, passed away Tuesday, evening, Feb. 14, 2012, at her home.
She was born March 21, 1930, in Kaufbeuren, Germany, to the late Max and Viktoria (Gast) Friedauer. Elfriede married Iwan Andabaka on Sept. 9, 1961, in Elkhart.
He survives, as well as a son, Richard (Pam) Friedauer of Aurora, Ohio, and two granddaughters, Christy (Steve) Tartabini of Twinsburg, Ohio, and Julie (David) Slisz of Aurora, Ohio. Also surviving are four great-grandsons, Tyler, Tommy, Ryan and Jonathan; two brothers, Alfred Friedauer of White Pigeon, Mich., and Erwin Friedauer of Palm Desert, Calif.; and a sister, Ottilie Seitz of Germany.
Preceding her in death were a sister, Heidi Haussman, and brothers Max, Hans and Ernst Friedauer.
Elfriede worked as a flute finisher for more than 32 years at the Gemeinhardt Co. in Elkhart. She was a longtime member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Elfriede was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was generous and giving, loved flowers, baking and traveling to her homeland.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, where a parish vigil service will be prayed at 3 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1108 S. Main St., Elkhart, where friends may call for a half-hour prior to the Mass. The Rev. Matthew Coonan will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery.
