Obituary

ELKHART — Eleanor D. (Arko) Haney, 93, of Elkhart, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, at Elkhart Hospice House.

She was born Nov. 28, 1921, in Elkhart, to Louis M. and Pauline (Strukel) Arko.

Eleanor married Perry D. Haney on April 15, 1950, in Elkhart. He passed away Feb. 26, 1971, in Elkhart.

Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Paula Minegar of Union, Mich.; son Michael A. (Vivian) Haney of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Chessa (Justin) Johnson, Brittney (Robert) Tone, Tyler (Rachel) Haney and Spencer (Abby) Haney; six great-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert L. (Catherine) Arko of Elkhart.

In addition to her parents and husband, a son, Mark E. Haney, and brothers William "Bill" Arko and Victor Arko preceded her in death.

Eleanor worked at Miles Laboratories for 40 years. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Miles and was a long-time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was a great cook and enjoyed crocheting and collecting Beanie Babies. Eleanor loved the time she was able to spend with her family.

Services celebrating Eleanor's life will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. Elkhart, with visitation for an hour prior. The Rev. John McCormick will officiate. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date in Rice Cemetery.
